Fri Sept 26, 3:00-5:00pm – Registration Check In & Meet & Greet in the Congress Lobby

Check in for the weekend with the Mystericon planners, pickup your nametag, & grab a drink at the hotel bar with your friends (and maybe the Effing ladies!). If you cannot make Friday afternoon registration, you can register in the meeting room on Saturday all day long. Registration will also be open during the Friday night meetup in the Congress Hotel Bar.

Fri Sept 26, 10:00pm – 11:30 PM Time Travel Pub Crawl (Historic Bus Tour)! with Adam Selzer

A LIVE edition of author Adam Selzer’s Time Travel Pub Crawls, a virtual hit since 2020! Journey to historic Chicago bars on a big ol’ bus.

(If there is sufficient demand Saturday bus tours may be added; you will have the option to switch).

10:00-11:00 AM	Architecture 101 Adam Selzer Adam’s illustrated Chicago History and Architecture 101 that he gives to groups making the Chicago stop on Frank Lloyd Wright road trips
11:00-12:00 AM	Chicago Shipwrecks Leyla Royale The Eastland is not the only major ship to have gone down in the waters around Chicago. In this talk we’ll go over some of the lesser known shipwrecks that have left their mark on Chicago. You’ll learn which ones you can still go visit today, at least when the water’s low enough
12:00 – 1:00	Lunch Break
1:30-2:30	Johann Hoch Adam Selzer Rock out with your Hoch out! This is a reprise of a speech Adam will be giving to a private group about serial killer Johann Hoch and the role the media played in shaping his story. It’s a celebration of the Johann Hoch book, which will have just been published!
2:30 – 3:30	the Second City Patti Swanson Description coming soon!
3:30-4:00	the Ross Berman Variety Hour Ross Berman Ross W Berman, a regular on Time Travel Pub Crawls, happens to be one of Chicago’s most engaging songwriters! With seven bandcamp albums, Berman has become a unique, chaotic voice in folk and blues, bouncing between wry humor and self-righteous fury. Often found playing at local bars and comedy theaters, Berman’s takes on Chicago, America, and anything else range from sweet to goofy to caustic.
4:00-5:00	the Adam Selzer & Patti Vasquez Variety Hour Adam Selzer Adam will play a thirty minute set of original songs, most of which will probably be humorous. Patti Vasquez Live! Patti Vasquez of Whiskey & a Cookie fame joins us to wrap up the day with some live comedy.
5:00-6:00	Tomb Snoopers Live! Adam Selzer & Patti Vasquez Adam and Patti will join forces to record at least half an hour of material for their podcast, TOMB SNOOPERS, whether a full episode or a free-form discussion and Q&A.
6:30-8:00		Chicago’s Horrible Histories Leyla Royale, $22, Tix here  It’s spooky season! True tales of crime, terror, murder, shipwrecks, & more await you on this creepy crawl through downtown Chicago. Based off of Leyla’s years of research on weird ways to die in Chicago, this tour will feature classic & brand new stories you’ve never heard before. Just remember — if there’s a safety regulation, there’s a reason it exists.

Ticketed walking tours with Adam Selzer & Leyla Royale

10:00-11:30	The Fabulous History of Uptown Leyla Royale, $22, Tix here Come explore my favorite neighborhood with me! See movie palaces — some still here, some long gone — small local theatres, beautiful 1920s apartment buildings, & see the crazy conglomeration of terra cotta in the city of Chicago (at least according to Leyla). We’ll spend this tour strolling through the streets of Uptown, ending close to the Lawrence Red Line Stop. You’ll get a chance to grab a coffee or a cocktail at the end at one of Leyla’s favorite local hangouts.
2:00-3:30	Graceland Cemetery Adam Selzer, $22, Tix here Enjoy an autumnal romp through the city’s best cemetery with the cemetery’s best tour guide, Adam Selzer! Hear little known stories of famous monuments you’ve seen before. Who is Mama from Mama’s Grave? Can you really see you fate if you stare into the Statue of Death standing watch by the body of Dexter Graves? Learn this & more with Adam on this special spooky tour.
